Confined spaces can be an extremely dangerous work environment. Identifying, understanding, and controlling the hazards provides workers with the ability to safely perform their duties within, or when monitoring these environments.
This one-day course will address basic principles and concepts of confined space safety and the roles of the attendant and entrant in the process. The course includes case studies, workbook exercises, and a fall safety systems practical exercise to understand safe vertical entry.
The course is ideally suited for those who will either enter or serve as an attendant for those entering basic confined spaces at the worksite.
The course material will provide students with an engaging and enjoyable learning environment.

Equipment: Confined Space equipment relevant to course material, supplied by Benbow Safety Training for trainee use during training.
Duration: 8 hours (includes theory, written exam, & practical evaluations)

Certification Criteria:
75% on written exam
“Pass” on practical evaluations
Certification Length: 3 years

Documentation:
Trainees will receive a Student Manual, 30-day Temporary Wallet Card & 3-year Wallet Card (if certification criteria passed).
Employers will receive digital record of certification.
Benbow Safety Training retains all original documentation including written exam.
Fees: $175 per Trainee (plus $199 flat fee per class/day - no minimum class size)
Pay one flat fee per class (no minimum class size), then just $175 per trainee. Includes built-in volume pricing where every additional certification lowers your cost per operator.
Travel Costs:
No travel costs for courses delivered on southern Vancouver Island (south of Nanaimo).
Elsewhere on the island and the rest of BC, travel costs will be added to the course fees and are calculated when you request a quote.
We strive to keep costs low to maximize value to our customers and are happy to work with your company’s travel & accommodation processes on request.
Need certification but don’t have an available jobsite? We’re happy to help you find a suitable indoor (or at least covered) location for training. Additional costs for site rental may be added to your quote if applicable.
